IEDs are frequently designed to be victim-operated, thus impacting returning Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and can also be classified as Abandoned Improvised Mines (AIMs).
Badia Demining provides Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD) services in accordance with International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) 09.31 and the associated Test and Evaluation Protocols (T&EP 09.31). Our IEDD capability is delivered within a humanitarian mine action framework and is conducted under appropriate national authority oversight, ensuring safety, proportionality, and compliance with international standards.
Our IEDD Approach
Badia Demining applies a threat-led, risk-managed IEDD methodology that integrates national-level Threat Analysis and site-specific Threat Assessment. IEDD tasks are planned and executed in accordance with IMAS-defined philosophies, principles, mandatory actions, and working practices, with the preservation of life as the overriding priority.
Badia Demining’s IEDD services may include:
• Location, identification, and assessment of suspected IEDs
• Establishment of cordon, evacuation, and appropriate safety distances
• Development of IED-specific disposal or render-safe plans
• Application of remote and semi-remote disposal actions
• Destruction in situ using high-order or low-order techniques where appropriate
• Final disposal of explosive components in accordance with IMAS requirements
• Post-task reporting and contribution to national information management systems
Badia Demining’s IEDD operations are delivered under the technical oversight of former British Ammunition Technical Officers (ATOs), providing assurance that all activities are conducted to the highest standards of safety, quality, and technical governance. All are qualified Advanced IEDD operators and IEDD supervisors as per United Nations IEDD standards.
